How did 10KSB help you?
I always knew my company was unique within its industry. The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program gave me the methodology and tools to set goals. My differentiators became my strengths and my company began to be noticed. I properly established my brand within national retail channels such as Home Depot, Amazon and Grainger. With that foundation, I was able to become a major supplier to companies I never would have had the idea to go after such as, U-Haul, Airbnb and various startup businesses.
Tell us about a challenge you’ve faced in your business.
Our biggest challenge and passion as a security hardware manufacturer has been staying ahead of the curve when it comes to technology in security hardware. Luckily, we have the brightest and hardest working team.
What do you enjoy about being a small business owner?
What I most enjoy about being a small business owner is that I can control the legacy I leave behind. It is wonderful feeling knowing what I built can be passed to future generations. Small business owners have the power to provide employment opportunities and impact their communities. The legacy you leave behind is much more fulfilling than anything else.
Since graduating from the 10KSB Program, is there an accomplishment or goal you’re particularly proud of achieving?
I was recently selected to attend a business program at Harvard Business School. The program focused on Managing Sales Teams and Distribution Channels. We stayed at the Harvard campus in Boston, Massachusetts while attending class. It was a great experience and I’m proud to now have a Harvard diploma on my wall.
