How did 10KSB help you?
I heard about the 10KSB program when I was having a hard time recovering from the recession. I felt that I needed professional help in navigating what'd be required of me to survive and continue to grow my business. The experience was more than I imagined — I learned new tactics, created lifelong connections, and gained confidence in my ability as a leader.

What is the biggest challenge you face in your business?
The challenges we have faced both during and now after the Covid-19 pandemic are somewhat similar to those challenges we faced in 2016: getting into positive cash flow situation, navigating a new paradigm in marketing ourselves, keeping the spirit of our team up during difficult and uncharted waters. The difference between the recession of 2016 and this pandemic is that I now know how to create a plan, I know there are people whose expertise I can tap, and I've got a solid base on which to create my comeback.

What do you enjoy about being a small business owner? Why?
The people! Connecting with my customers, my fellow entrepreneurs, and everyone whose lives I touch while running my business makes the roller coaster ride worth every moment. They remind me that hard times come and go, but sharing life over a good meal lasts forever.

Since graduating from the 10KSB Program, is there an accomplishment or goal you’re particularly proud of achieving?

YUCA'S was invited to participate in Super Bowl LVI as a caterer for the game's Tailgate Party. It was an incredible experience made possible because of the skills I learned and honed as part of the 10KSB program. The confidence that I built because of the 10KSB program, also gave me the courage to reach for possibilities I never dreamed of. The Super Bowl LVI opportunity came from SBLVI's Business Connect Program that I participated in. Having strengthened our business and served our community in the Los Angeles area well for the past decades, we are now more than ready for the next challenge!
